Posted Date: 01-Jan-2009 Thurs

James Brown was the leading Inishowen A.C. finisher in the Finn Valley 5km handicap run on St Stephen’s Day with an impressive personal best of 17.22. The St Johnston based athlete has been in impressive form in recent weeks following his 3.07 debut marathon in Dublin at the end of October. Helena Crossan displayed a good turn of speed despite her focus on the longer distances and was rewarded with 18.17. Dermot Sweeney made a promising return to competitive athletics, finishing in 18.24. Finbarr Gallagher raced home in 18.30, with Karen Crossan just six seconds behind. Seamus McDaid impressed with 21.22, while Eilish Bell returned to the shorter distance with much success to finish in 22.03.
Meanwhile, Owenie Mc Kinney was the first runner home in the Bocan Community playgroup 5km fun run on Saturday last. The Buncrana based athlete ran 20.12, which gave him a 24 second victory over Barry Donnelly. Mickey Donaghy finished strongly in third position in 20.54. Other Inishowen A.C. athletes to complete the course were Donal Doherty in 24.30 and Noel Doherty in 25.55.
