Brown was the leading Inishowen A.C. finisher in the Finn Valley
5km handicap run on St Stephen’s Day with an impressive
personal best of 17.22. The St Johnston based athlete has been
in impressive form in recent weeks following his 3.07 debut marathon
in Dublin at the end of October. Helena Crossan displayed a good
turn of speed despite her focus on the longer distances and was
rewarded with 18.17. Dermot Sweeney made a promising return to
competitive athletics, finishing in 18.24. Finbarr Gallagher raced
home in 18.30, with Karen Crossan just six seconds behind. Seamus
McDaid impressed with 21.22, while Eilish Bell returned to the
shorter distance with much success to finish in 22.03.
Meanwhile, Owenie Mc Kinney was the first runner home in the Bocan
Community playgroup 5km fun run on Saturday last. The Buncrana
based athlete ran 20.12, which gave him a 24 second victory over
Barry Donnelly. Mickey Donaghy finished strongly in third position
in 20.54. Other Inishowen A.C. athletes to complete the course
were Donal Doherty in 24.30 and Noel Doherty in 25.55.
