Inishowen
Athletics Club ultra distance runner Helena Crossan was the
leading female finisher in the Night of Flanders International
100km (62.2 miles) road race in Belgium on Friday night last.
Her winning time was 7 hours and 53 minutes, which also placed
her 6th overall in the race. She was the only Irish athlete
to compete in this event. The 100km race started at 8.00 pm
local time and continued through the night. The Carndonagh based
athlete was invited to this race following her 10th place finish
in the World 100km Championships in Holland last year.
Karol Doherty was a convincing winner of the wheelchair section
in the Lisburn half marathon on Wednesday last. The Carndonagh
based athlete recorded an impressive season’s best of
70 minutes and 16 seconds. Doherty will continue his preparations
for the Dublin City Marathon in October with more races on the
local and provincial circuit. Moville athlete Peter White finished
under the 90 minute barrier with a good 1 hour 29 minutes and
21 seconds. Eilish Bell completed Inishowen’s involvement
in the Lisburn half marathon with an impressive time of 1 hour
40 minutes and 52 seconds.
Joe Mc Kinney was the leading Inishowen A.C. finisher in the
Lifford 5km on Friday evening last. The Malin based athlete
has displayed impressive form in recent weeks and set a personal
best of 17.12. Finbarr Gallagher completed the 3.5 lap circuit
in Lifford in 18.13, with Oliver McGeehan finishing in 18.21.

The Jude Gallagher ‘Round the Bridges’ 10 mile road
race take place this Thursday 26 June in Limavady at 7.15 pm.
The Donegal Grand Prix continues with the Ballybofey 5km road
race on Friday 27 June at 7.30. In the Furey Insurance series,
the Culmore 5km will take place on Saturday 28 June at 2.00
pm. The Strabane 10k road race and walk takes place on Saturday
5 July at 11.30.
