Culdaff
runner Margaret O’ Donnell raced to a new lifetime best
of 77 minutes and 06 seconds at the Frank Duffy 10 mile road
race in the Phoenix Park on Saturday last. Despite the inclement
weather, O’Donnell ran a controlled race and negotiated
the tough hilly sections with considerable confidence. It’s
a timely indicator for the Dublin based Inishowen athlete that
her training is progressing well for the Dublin City marathon
at the end of October.
Helena Crossan will run in the Longford marathon this Sunday.
The Carndonagh athlete ran 3 hours and 05 minutes when finishing
second in last year’s race as she used the event in preparation
for the World 100km championships. Following her 10th place
finish last year, the County record holder for the marathon
is using a similar build up to this year’s World Championships
which take place in Holland in November.
