Clonmany
athlete Kieran Devlin achieved a best of 11.04m in the U 16
boys’ triple jump at the All-Ireland juvenile track &
field championships in Tullamore on Sunday last. A thing injury
sustained during the warm-up prevented Kieran from getting close
to his lifetime best of 11.16m. Nevertheless, he can be well
pleased with his season overall as he finished second in the
Ulster & Northern Ireland championships in June.
Buncrana runner Paddy Doherty was first in the V4 masters category
at the J.G Memorial 4.2 mile road race in Cranford on Friday
last. Doherty, who has been showing great form on the roads
in recent weeks, ran 25.18. Helena Crossan was a convincing
winner of the women’s race in an impressive 25.24, while
Benny Barber clinched second spot in the V3 masters section
with 30 minutes and 15 seconds.
