| Three
athletes from Inishowen A.C. traveled to the Liverpool half marathon
on Sunday last. Carndonagh athlete John Collins posted a very
creditable 1 hour 27 minutes and 30 seconds for the 13.1 mile
event in dry but windy conditions. Finbarr Gallagher was also
under the 90 minute barrier with a solid 1.29.13 performance.
Both athletes will now be finalizing their preparations in the
coming weeks for the London marathon on 13th April. Eilish Bell
completed the Inishowen representation in Liverpool with a season’s
best of 1.42.29. The Culdaff based athlete is targeting the Belfast
marathon in early May, and can be well pleased with her efforts
in Liverpool as she prepares for another block of training over
the next two months.
Elsewhere, four Inishowen A.C. juveniles competed for Donegal
in the Ulster sportshall finals in Glengormely, Co. Antrim on
Tuesday last. Nuala Bradley and Kayla Farren both qualified as
part of the U 13 and U 15 teams respectively for the UK finals
in Birmingham on 12th April. This is a major achievement by both
girls and is just rewards for their efforts over the last number
of months. Kieran Devlin and Stephen Friel were members of the
County U 15 team that finished second to Fermanagh. Although the
U 15 team did not qualify for the finals in Birmingham, all of
the team performed extremely well.
