The annual
Moville 10km road race and walk will take place this Saturday
6th September. The walk gets underway at 2.30 pm while the juvenile
1 mile road race for children aged from 11 to 16 years of age
will take place at 2.45. The 10km road race begins at 3.00 pm.
All proceeds from the race are in aid of the Donegal Hospice.
Registration is from 1.30pm in Moville Celtic Football Club.
The Moville 10km is the penultimate race of the Brian Mc Cormick
Donegal Grand Prix series. All levels of walkers and runners
are very welcome to take part.

MAP MOVILLE 10K
Ten Inishowen Athletics Club athletes were part of a field of
over 90 runners in the Dessie’s Run 5 mile road race on
Tuesday evening last. Conditions were near perfect as the athletes
set off from Gransha Park at 7.00 pm. Katrina Ruddy was the
Club’s top female finisher in 38.54. 29 minutes and 10
seconds gave Malin based athlete Joe Mc Kinney tenth place overall
and a personal best as an added bonus. Finbarr Gallagher also
revised his personal best to 29.46, while Vinnie Hegarty completed
the Gransha circuit in 33.39. Owenie Mc Kinney posted a useful
34 minutes exactly with Shaun Mc Laughlin just one second behind.
Peter McLaughlin raced to 34.14 as Seamus Mc Daid ran 34.42.
Peter Mc Kinney raced well to dip under the 36 minute barrier
with a 35.58 effort, while Mickey Donaghey used the event to
finalize his preparations for the World Fire Service Games in
England this week with a 37.42 finishing time. Niall McGee ran
39.32 at the Ballyare 10k on Saturday last.
Up-Coming Events
The final race of the Brian Mc Cormick Donegal Grand Prix series
will be the Donegal 5km championships in Letterkenny on Sunday
21st September at 11.30 am. The Waterside half marathon takes
place on Saturday 13th September at 10.30 am. The walkers start
at 9.30 am. Training for all juveniles in the Buncrana area
takes place every Wednesday at the Leisure Centre from 7.00
– 8.00 pm. The Fit for Life and senior training continues
every Tuesday from the Buncrana Leisure Centre at 6.30 pm. Athletics
training for 8-12 year old juveniles will resume in Carndonagh
Community School on Thursday 11th September from 5.00 –
6.00 pm. New members are very welcome to join.
