01-Dec-08 - All-Ireland Cross-Country this Weekend

Ballyhaise in Co. Cavan will be the venue this weekend for the All-Ireland uneven ages and Novice cross-country championships. Buncrana athlete Emer Redden will run for the County team in the under 11 girls’ race, while Declan Donaghy will compete in the U 13 boys’ event over 1500m. Kayla Farran, Daniel Mc Laughlin and Stephen Friel will compete at U 17 level. Carloine Kelly will run for the County team in the U 19 girls’ race. Karen Crossan, Evelyn Mc Ginley, Brigid Moohan and Elizabeth Mc Daid have all been selected for the county novice women’s team. Joe Mc Kinney has been selected on the men’s team. The second round of the Donegal Sportshall athletics competition for U 10 and U 12 year olds will take place in Letterkenny on Saturday 13th December at the Aura Leisure Centre, commencing at 12.00 noon. The second round of the winter league for 13 years olds to masters’ athletes will be run in conjunction with the sportshall competition. The events for the winter league are 60m, long jump, high jump and 60m hurdles. Letterkenny Athletics Club is organizing a series of 1 mile races on the Danny Mc Daid track at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny on Thursday 18th December. The event is in aid of the third world charity Goal and runs from 6.30-8.00pm.
