Crossan lead the Inishowen women’s team to an historic fourth place finish with great performances from Theresa Doherty (23rd), Evelyn Mc Ginley and Elizabeth McDaid over the 3k distance. Both Karen and Theresa were also on the Donegal team that finished second. In the novice men’s race run over 6km, James Browne (right) was rightly pleased with his top 50 placing, which rounded off the most successful year in athletics for the St. Johnston based athlete. In the All-Ireland juvenile races, Darren Donaghy raced very well in the under 11 boys' 800m event. Due to difficulties with the start of the under 15 girls’ race, Urris athlete Connie-Ann Hession will have to do it all again, as the race was declared null and void. Declan Donaghy had much better luck in the under 15 boys’ race with a strong and composed performance, with the ever consistent Patrick Mathews relishing the longer distance in the under 17 boys' 4km race. Both athletes can be well pleased with their performances at National level as they are eligible to compete in these age groups next year also.
