Following
their impressive performances at the West Ulster sportshall championships,
David Mc Laughlin, Aine Bradley, Kayla Farran and Stephen Friel
have now their sights set on the Ulster finals at the end of the
month. All four athletes are on the County team and will be making
a big effort to qualify for the UK finals in Birmingham in April.
On
Sunday week last, DCU student Karen Crossan set a lifetime best
of 11 minutes and 05 seconds when finishing in fifth place at
the Irish university indoor track & field championships in
Nenagh. Crossan’s performance helped her college to win
the overall women’s team award. The strength in depth of
athletics at DCU was under lined by the men also winning the overall
team title. On the same day, Helena Crossan finished eleventh
overall at the National masters’ cross-country championships.
The County record holder for the marathon finished fourth in the
V1 masters section.
