AC Athletes who took part in the Ulster Children's Games in Letterkenny
Moville juvenile Darragh Kelly was the highest placed finisher
at the Ulster Children’s Games at the Aura Leisure Centre
in Letterkenny on Sunday last when he finished second in the under
12 boys high jump with a life time best performance of 1.20m.
This represented a two centimeter improvement on his gold medal
winning leap at the Ulster & Northern Ireland indoor championships
in Magherfelt last March. Darragh will now compete in the All-Ireland
championships in Tullamore in July. He will be joined by Buncrana
juvenile Fergus Cox, who finished fourth in the under 13 boys
javelin with an impressive best of 18.20m. Others to compete included
Ethan O’ Kane (60m, long jump and high jump), Matthew Mc
Kinney (long jump, shot putt), Riona Clancy (60m, 600m), Aishling
Mc Laughlin ( 600m, long jump), Deirdre Doherty ( 60m, long jump),
Lauren Mc Keever 60m, long jump), Zoe Mc Daid (60m, long jump),
Darren Donaghy (60m, long jump), Shaun Fletcher ( 60m, long jump)
and Una Cox (300m, long jump, ball throw).

Mini-Marathon, Dublin (l tor) Pauline Doherty, Susan Mc Grath,

Browne made the long journey to the Stranraer half marathon on
Saturday last and was a highly creditable 6th overall in a personal
best of 1.19.06. Paddy Doherty ran 17.52 at the Donegal Town 5k
on Friday evening last. Martin Mooney was just 6 seconds adrift
of his personal best when finishing in 18.03.
Seven athletes from Inishowen A.C. ran in the women’s mini-marathon
in Dublin last Monday week. Helena Crossan ran 38 minutes with
her daughter Karen running strongly in 39 minutes. Elizabeth Mc
Daid raced to 48.53, with Susan Mc Grath finishing in 57.15. Mary
Mc Namara was comfortably under the one hour mark with 58.07,
while Pauline Doherty and Lily Mc Gonagle impressed with 63.38
and 75 minutes respectively.
