With the summer road racing season in full swing, Inishowen athletes
were in action at a range of venues over the past seven days.
Oliver Mc Geehan ran 38.04 when finishing a highly creditable
fourth place overall in the Ransboro 10k road race in Sligo on
Saturday week last. Susan Mc Grath ran 26 minutes in the Rathmullen
5k on Friday evening last and was amongst 11 athletes from Inishowen
who participated. Top Inishowen finisher was James Browne who
ran strongly to finish in 16.55. He was followed closely by Joe
Mc Kinney on 17.25, with Paddy Doherty coming home in 17.47. Karen
Crossan continued her recent good form by racing to her second
personal best over 5km within a week when she clocked 18.14. Other
Inishowen runners to finish included Niall Mc Gee 17.59, Martin
Mooney 18.12, Owenie Mc Kinney 19.20, Gerry Doyle, Brendan Duffy
and Willie John Mc Laughlin.

Meanwhile,
Finbarr Gallagher was the leading Inishowen finisher in the Strabane
10k on Saturday last. The Glenties native ran 38.32. Declan Cadwell
maintained his impressive form of recent weeks with 40 minutes
and 08 seconds. Vinnie Hegarty ran a personal best of 40.31, with
James Browne just one second ahead. Mickey Donaghy raced to a
best of 41.35, while Brigid Moohan made an impressive return to
competitive action with 44.45.

Helena
Crossan finished second woman overall in the Achill half marathon
on Saturday last. The Carndonagh athlete, who won a bronze medal
at the European 100k and finished 6th in the World Championships
just 2 weeks ago, raced to a finishing time of 1 hour and 24 minutes
and 55 seconds.
