Just eight days after her victory in the Celtic 100km race in Galway, Helena Crossan combined with Margaret Kelly to win the women’s team event. Crossan ran the opening 10km in a quick 37.11 and further impressed with 18 minutes and 25 seconds for the 5km. Elsewhere on Sunday, Elizabeth Mc Daid, Elish Bell and Seamus Mc Daid were amongst several thousand runners to complete the Titanic Quarter 10km in Belfast. Seamus ran 46 minutes, while his wife Elizabeth raced to a season’s best of 46.56. Eilish Bell showed no ill-effects of her 39.3 mile ultra-marathon two weeks ago as she finished comfortably in 47.01. Clive Bell returned to his home city of Liverpool a fortnight ago and completed the half marathon in 1.49.06.

Carndonagh Community School was the venue on Thursday last for the presentations for the Club’s 8-12 year old juveniles. Darragh Kelly and Fergus Cox were presented with a special merit award for winning the County, Ulster and All-Ireland ball throw competition last summer. Buncrana athlete Emer Redden was also a recipient of a special merit award for her 11th place finish in the Ulster & Northern Ireland under 11 cross-country championships. She qualified for the All-Ireland finals in Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan where she was on the Donegal team. Clonmany athlete Aine Bradley also won a special merit award for a range of impressive performances at sportshall, track and field and cross-country. Aine qualified for the All-Ireland cross-country finals and was selected for the Donegal under 13 sportshall team that finished sixth in the UK finals in Birmingham last month. There was also a special presentation of medals to all juveniles who participated throughout 2008.
